Olathe adds 970 acres in 2022 through annexation

The southern edge of Olathe is on track to officially grow by roughly 970 acres this year. That adds almost two more square miles to the city’s footprint.

Last week, the City Council adopted a resolution formally redefining its borders, taking into account these gains. The item was listed in the consent agenda portion of the meeting, which means it was approved grouped with other procedural items without separate consideration or discussion.

Red squares on this Olathe boundary map show areas newly annexed.
